heavensouls – ♪♩♬°.•☆•.° “dawn of the city” °.•☆•.°♪♩♬
This 9-minute odyssey of a track twists from juke to rage to jungle to ambient to jazz, and excellently showcases heavensouls’ skill pushing sounds through different terrains and registers. Made during the sessions for his upcoming album cantu of the sower, it definitely has me excited to hear what the rest of the album has in store.
EVILGIANE & EERA – TRY SOME SHIT
A quick 2 minutes showing a different side to Evilgiane. In true Eera form there is far less rap and way more EDM influence on this one. While it’s nice to see Evilgiane going in this direction, I would have liked to hear more of his style coming through. Overall it’s still a great track and worth a listen.
Jeune Morty – Sweet Fanta
A disappointing effort from the French ug king. The beat on this one was not doing anything for me, and the lyrics are equally weak. His usual laid back vocal delivery only works to amplify the sparseness of the beat, and not in a good way.
kifoh – Osama
Not a new release but a super fun music video to go with the song. Just good summertime vibes.
Mali Obomsawin – Automatic
I don’t think it’s possible to express in words how excited this track has me. It sounds like her first album, Sweet Tooth, but with more improv and more frenetic energy in the playing. If this is what we can expect for the album in October, it’s going to be outstanding.
ceesho – my career prod. wtfriko
I found out about this late and I’m sad about that. I’ve been following wtfriko for a while, but ceesho I just found out about, and man his voice is just perfect for these massive clipped internetcore bongology beats.
cppo – Ivory Coast independence day mini clips (2026)
Speaking of bongology, this short bongology mix is just some good solid fun, just turn it on, loud, please.
This is Lorelei – Oh No Now My
Pretty solid effort, much better than Billy Came Back. The main riff with the interlocking guitar parts is very catchy, and the chorus is singable. It is a fairly big stylistic departure from the discography, with much more slowcore and shoegaze influence than usual, but what is a TIL album without some weirdo tracks (looking at you Dancing in the Club!)?
That’s it for this edition of the roundup. Thanks for reading! Check back next week for more new music, old music, cool music, stupid music…
